PugAnticipation

This Saturday, I'm taking a ride out to the wilds of Illinois to meet a two year old little pug girl. Since the fosters are available only evenings during the week, I'll most likely bring her home the following Saturday. I think it would be better to bring her home during the day so she can have a bit more time before bed to get used to her new digs. I'm planning on using the week between meeting her and bringing her home to get supplies and get ready for her. Once I meet her, I'll know better what size crate to get for her, what size harness, what toys she might like. And I'm also considering various potty options for the balcony. Once she's here, there'll be training, playing, walks and all sorts of fun, but for now, I'm trying to figure out everything I'll need to make her comfortable in her new home. Any suggestions, comments, ideas would be appreciated. :)

OMG dw! I can hardly contain my excitement! You will have your baby in just a couple weeks and I can't wait to meet her.

The foster family will give you most of the info you need to take care of your puggie. They have toys, food, harnesses, leashes, etc. for her and even if they can't give them to you, they will point you in the right direction. She will have an adjust period so the biggest thing to remember is to be patient. I was lucky that my parents were patient with me and look how I turned out.

HOW EXCITING!!! You'll be an OFFICIAL Crazy Pug Mama before you know it (right now you're an "honorary" one!)

You'll figure it all out when the time comes!

Does your new sweetie have a name???

Keep us posted!

A girl can never have too much pink! I'm just sayin', or barkin'! That is some very exciting news. I wonder if we are in the wilds of Illinois.

Mom says we are just in the cornfields of Illinois! Darn it! We wish you lots of luck!

I am soo excited that I cannot stand it! Your adopting a baby girl!
Suggestion #1 is - go to the pee pee spot a million times a day- and when she goes pee pee-(well i get a tiny tiny treat). Soon she will want to go potty at that place so she can get a treat.
She might need a sweater- if its cold outside. I do not have an undercoat- like some puggies do.
Don't forget to give kisses - puggies love kisses.
I will tell you EVERYTHING you want to know- so if need me- please ask- but I agree the foster mommy and daddy will help you.
I am so excited to play with her- and hear ALL About her!
We are happy for you!

Yeah for your new puggie! When the Foo arrived, her fosters gave us a ton of stuff for her. I think all you really need is to love her up and the rest will work itself out.
PICS, PICS!!

That is so awesome! :) Baby gates are good too (well if she doesn't jump anyways.. ) I use them to keep Gus and Indy out of certain areas.

Peepads are an awesome investment and they don't leak like paper will. Plus a good chew toy, like keys. :)
Can't wait to see her!

That's so exciting! Just remember the first two weeks will be differant than any other time, and it's not really representative of how they'll be. When I first got Miss M. she was fresh off a stint on the streets: she chewed up the new bed I got for her, stole treats off a counter, and didn't know how to sit still. Once she understood the expectations of the house, she was a changed woman.

OMG, dw! How did I just realize that you are about to get your very own puggie?! How exciting!

Here are my recommendations for you:
Dog proof the house. Anything down on the ground, cords, etc. should be moved around so as not to tempt the always-naughty puggie! :)
Pearl and I lived in an apartment when I first got her. We used potty pads on the balcony and I kept a trash bin out there for them.
Other than that, just toys, treats, and stuff to entertain her! You will be a WONDERFUL pug parent!!!
